South Buxton Raceway June 17th Race Report

Merlin, ON (June 17, 2017)- It was a battle of first place heat winners Carter Coles #2EZ and Morgan Dale #00 during the Auto Tech Sales and Service Bomber Feature.

 Dale and Coles who started at the front during the feature battled constantly with each other and fellow racer Carter Pickering #23 for first place. Coles was able to out race both Dale and Pickering and claim his second feature win of the season.

Coles thanked his Mom, Poppa and everyone who helps him make it to the track every weekend

Dale, brought home second place and Pickering brought home third place.

Willie Vyse #2 ran an impressive Sun Parlour Trailers Feature Race.

Starting at the front of the pack Vyse was able to maintain his position for an impressive 20 laps and sail right into the Winners Circle collecting his first feature win of the season. Vyse thanked his Dad, Brother and Sponsors for all of their help each and every week. Brad Bloomfield #11 brought home second and Eren Vanderiviere drove an impressive race starting eighth for the feature and was able to bring home third place.

The Westside Performance Plus Late Model Feature was in Memory of Don Hendricks. Hendricks, was one of the most popular drivers during the early years at South Buxton Raceway winning the first Late Model Feature Race the night the track opened in 1971.

Hendricks inspired his fans who came to watch the races every Saturday night, some, becoming the drivers we now watch every week. Gregg Haskell #RH21 and Dale Glassford #60 were two of those drivers and wow, did they put on
a show Saturday night. Fan favourites Haskell and Glassford fought a nail-biting race with Haskell leading by just two seconds. After a twenty lap battle, Haskell claimed the feature win and the Don Hendericks Memorial Trophy.

Haskell, thanked his crew, his sponsors, the fans and the Hendericks family for all of their help and support.

Glassford, after an impressive battle with lapped cars and race winner, brought home a second place win and Jim Dale #00 brought home third.

Dylan Wolters #54 who took a one year hiatus from Dirt Track Racing last year to persue Drag racing was the Chatham Pro Shop Mini Mod Feature winner. Wolters, who began the race at the front maintained an impressive lead the entire race, battling second place winner Tim McKenzie #81. Wolters, who said that dirt racing is “an addiction” thanked his Dad for staying up until 3am to make sure his car was race ready, also thanked his sponsors and other crew members. Elliot
Wilton #1 brought home third place.

Joey Brousseau #47B was the Schinkels Gourmet Meat Modified Feature winner for a second week in a row. Brousseau who became race leader after passing Patrick Lajeunesse #98P at the half way point, said aside from a few tweaks, he was running with the same car setup as last week and was done making any changes,

“I’m ready to clean up this season” he said before thanking his crew, family and sponsors.

Drew Smith #86 brought home second. Louise Clements #3C brought home third.
