Lucas has long been directly involved in the North American racing industry through multiple vehicle sponsorships and racing event promotions, at all levels. Seeing a need for better lubricants in this industry, the Lucas people went to work again, with the end result being a line of high performance engine oils and gear oils that are second-to-none in the racing industry.
“Our relationship with this event, and in particular President of Targa Robert Giannou, is much more than just an event supporter, it has become a personal relationship with a shared believe in the excitement and value of bringing a truly unique and world class motorsports event to the racing community in North America,” states agent for Lucas Oil Products in Atlantic Canada, John Coyle. “Lucas Oil Products, more than any other lubricant company, recognizes the importance of sponsoring all forms of racing, from the grass roots level all the way to Targa and everything in between, and it has been good for the brand and our loyal customer base. I look forward to another successful event with many new stages and locations!”
“The challenge is to maintain strong, long-standing sponsors who have a direct connection with either Targa or motorsports in general,” explains Targa President, Robert Giannou. “The fact that Lucas has stood by us, not just for nine years, but nine consecutive years, shows that they have very strong faith in our event and our place within the motorsports community. Our work with Lucas, and specifically John, has produced a business partnership and friendship that both sides take value in. We welcome Lucas back for our Sweet Sixteen event!”
Lucas is one of the fastest-growing additive lines in the consumer automotive industry. A premium line of oils, greases and problem solving additives has helped to firmly establish Lucas as a prominent figure in this marketplace.
“These types of unique motorsports events are a perfect place for Lucas Oil Products,” states Tom Bogner, Director of Motorsports Administration for Lucas Oil Products. “We have the opportunity to reach many different, unique and powerful cars, such as Ford Shelby GT 350’s from new to classic, to the best that Europe has to offer, such as Porsche, Lotus, BMW, and the list goes on. We are very proud to be partnered once again in 2017, and wish all the competitors the greatest of success this season.”
Owned and operated by Newfoundland International Motorsports Limited, Targa Newfoundland is one of three internationally recognized Targa motorsports events in the world. The 2017 competition will start in St. John’s on September 10th and concludes back in the capital on September 15th. The annual rally will cover more than 1,600 kilometers of the challenging, twisty roads of the central and eastern portion of Newfoundland, including over 440 kilometers of closed-road, flat-out Targa stages.
