The 2016 edition of the Motorama show runs March 11, 12 & 13 in Halls 1 & 2 of The International Centre, across from Toronto’s Pearson International Airport.
Hosted by popular short track announcers / journalists Greg Calnan and Spencer Lewis, the STNOC will welcome drivers to the Johnsonville Stage who won full-season track or series championships in 2015. Additionally, Calnan’s OntarioOvalOnDirt.com will recognize notable dirt track performers from 2015, while Spencer Lewis Promotions (SLP) founder Spencer Lewis will spotlight the top 10 year-end racers from his London Recreational Ontario Asphalt Power Rankings, which appears regularly in Inside Track Motorsports News.
“We’ve been overwhelmed by the response to the first two years of the Short Track Night of Champions,” said Calnan. “Based on that reaction, I’m sure that even more drivers will come out for this year’s presentations. The Night of Champions has grown to the point where, even during the race season, I’ve been asked about it.”
Added Lewis, “The Night of Champions is special because it brings together so many asphalt and dirt champs all in one place. This type of thing really doesn’t happen anywhere else. Year-end banquets are great, but it’s something very special for the ‘best of the best’ to be on one stage with their fellow champions at Canada’s biggest motorsports show.”
In addition to the on-stage awards presentations, which start at 5:15 p.m., the track and series champions will also be eligible for random prize draws, following the awards and pictures.
Anyone who won a full-season track or series championship in 2015 can register to be part of the Short Track Night of Champions presentations by clicking going to www.motoramashow.com/stnoc-registration and filling out the online form by February 19. Once registered, the participating racers will be entitled to admission to the show. They’ll also receive a personalized award and a ‘Swag Bag’ of sport-related items. They’ll also be eligible for prize draws, after the presentations.
STNOC Information regarding the event schedule, this year’s celebrity presenter and further Night of Champions details will be posted on the Motorama website once confirmed.
Speaking about the Stock Car Night of Champions Presented by Stoneridge, Motorama’s David Weber said, “If you haven’t attended the Stock Car Night of Champions, you really should make a point of it. Dozens of dirt and asphalt champions in one place, being honoured by the fans and interviewed by Greg Calnan and Spencer Lewis... it’s really something. We’d like to thank Stoneridge Specialty Insurance for their support, as well as Greg Calnan, Spencer Lewis and Wally Nesbitt for their help in making this such a big success.”
