Montreal (March 7, 2012) – In addition to his commitment to the 2012 season of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series (NCATS), Montreal-based driver Ray Courtemanche Jr. has decided to participate in the newly-announced ICAR Sportsman Challenge (ISC 2012) events at ICAR.

Courtemanche Jr. is in the midst of a comeback to serious competition after racing as a youth and then taking a break to build up his businesses and raise his family. Starting this year, he is on a mission to go up the racing ladder as quickly as possible and has already committed to the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series (NCATS) and to running three events on high speed ovals in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East (Bristol on March 16, Richmond on April 26 and Dover on September 28).

Courtemanche Jr. has decided to add Friday night racing in the just-announced ICAR-based ISC 2012 series, part of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series on the ICAR road course.

“Our team will be racing or practicing almost every weekend when the season starts. The workload for team members and me will be enormous, but I have decided to take the plunge and live my dream to the fullest. On the business side of racing, I will also apply all of my knowledge and experience to making this investment a successful one."

Bonzaï Racing has purchased a brand new ICAR Sportsman car.

“The expense is well worth the benefits, as the ICAR cars are just one small step down from the NCATS racers. I will gain experience in driving and on setting up both types of cars for road courses. This is a key factor given that the NCATS series runs at Mosport, Trois-Rivieres and on the Gilles Villeneuve circuit in Montreal as part of the NASCAR Nationwide Series weekend. I raced in Formula 1600 cars in 2011 and love road courses. It is important for me and the team to do well at these high visibility events.”
