Ranger qualified the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge in the sixth position. Heavy rain delayed the start of the Pinty’s Grand Prix but when the green flag waved to begin the race Ranger was quickly on the move and up to third place. Taking advantage of each opening he continued to push forward and eventually into the lead. “I saw the opening and I braked very hard going to the inside to take the lead” said Ranger.
Surrendering the lead back the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge was never far from the front of the field. In the late stages Ranger once again looked to improve his position. And for the second year in a row a late caution set up NASCAR overtime and a green, white checker dash to the finish.
Throwing all the moves he had at the leader during the final two laps Ranger pushed the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge as hard as he could but had to settle for the runner up position. The second-place result was enough to vault him back into the championship lead.
“I really have to thank my team, the whole Mopar team gave me such a great car. We had the green, white, checker, again and I tried but this time I had to settle for second. But we are heading out west with a lot of confidence and I want to continue the way we are going” said Ranger.
Andrew Ranger and the #27 Mopar Parts Dodge now head west for the next event, a doubleheader at Wyant Group Raceway in Saskatoon, SK on Wednesday July 24th.
